Course Overview

Unlock your potential as a football coach and take the first step on your coaching pathway.

Designed for pupils aged 14 years and above, this course focuses on developing the core skills, knowledge, and confidence required to begin coaching football. It provides a strong foundation that supports progression towards the Scottish FA 1.1 qualification, which learners can work towards once they turn 16.

Throughout the course, participants will build experience in delivering fun, engaging sessions, understanding basic coaching principles, and working with others in a sporting environment.

As well as gaining practical coaching skills, learners will also earn valuable SCQF points, supporting their wider school and career development.

Participants are encouraged to complete 12 hours of volunteering within a school or community sports setting. (This is not required for Aspiring Coaches.)
Your Active Schools Coordinator can support you in finding a suitable placement. These hours may also contribute towards awards such as the Saltire Award and Duke of Edinburgh Award.
