Did you know that Florence Beaumont climbed the Matterhorn at the tender age of 15?Always plucky and full of adventure, our Suffragist Sister turned that strength of character into a determination to make sure EVERY WOMAN over the age of 21 got the vote!
Which they did, in 1928!
As part of our fundraising for a sculpture dedicated to her, we are going to follow in Florence's Footsteps, not by scaling the Matterhorn but by clambering up and around Malham in full costume!
We are doing it - so you don't have to!
We'd love it if you felt you could donate the price of a shilling, which was the fee to join the National Union of Women's Suffragists, to encourage us to clamber and trek, wearing long skirts, Victorian shirts, corsets and Boots - just like Florence did.
A shilling in today's money is £7.33. Or, if you just fancy donating £1, we'd be just as grateful!
Just click on the link, which will take you to our GoFundMe, and in return you will get photos of our antics AND an image of the shilling!
Thank you!
