It's an album release and political protest show all in one! Travis Prinzi and Jeremy Button, local Rochester area musicians, were deep in discussion: it felt like "self-promotion" in the music world was empty and unimportant while watching the country slip into the hands of authoritarians. So they decided to make and curate some music to make a difference. "Folk ROC, Vol. 1: Songs of Peace and Protest" is a collection of local Rochester artists who have something to say about our current political situation! In the tradition of the late 60s and early 70s folk and folk-rock era, you'll find songs here by Violet Mary, Oliver Burdo, Kelley's Heroes, Big Blue House, Aaron DeRuyter, Rose Elliott, Ross Falzone, Compass & Moon, Watkins & the Rapiers, Bernie Heveron, Growl Bear, and The Travis Prinzi Band. These artists will come together to put on a highly-charged, exciting, and important show, using their voices and music to speak out and fight back. CDs will be available at the show! (Album will go live on streaming platforms a week later.) All proceeds from this project will go to Rochester Refugee Resettlement Services, since immigrants and refugees are constantly threatened and targeted. There is no cover charge to get in the door, but opportunities to make a $10 minimum suggested donation will be available via tip jars and QR Code for Venmo, PayPal, etc.
