In The Garden, families experience the life cycle through all five senses – through movement theater, poetic text in multiple languages, and interactive play – seated in the grass beneath the open sky in their local public park, lawn, or greenspace. Children and their families will connect to nature and to each other, building confidence and strengthening core synapses vital for child development. The Garden is New York City’s first and only show of its kind to provide the distinct benefits of theater by meeting audience members exactly where they are.
This performance is presented with support from the Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden and the Staten Island Children’s Museum.
Developed as part of New Victory LabWorks Launch, powered by New 42, which receives support for baby and toddler work from Vienn and Salman Al-Rashid.
The Garden is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
