Midges are available to trout throughout the year, but they become especially important during the colder months when other aquatic insects are less active. During the January Fly-Tying Forum, participants will tie two dependable midge patterns: the Brassie and Mercury Midge. The Brassie provides a straightforward introduction to creating durable, segmented wire bodies. The Mercury Midge adds the “stretch” by incorporating a clear glass bead, fine ribbing, and the precise thread control needed for tying smaller patterns. Participants will leave with two effective winter flies and a better understanding of how to imitate midge larvae and pupae.
Space is limited—reserve your seat today and join us at the Pechmann Center for an evening of learning, tying, and fellowship!
