FLOOR SESSIONS: A Double Header NightWednesday, October 14 6:30pm
Lie down. Listen up.
When was the last time you actually listened to music?
Not as background. Not on shuffle. Not while doing something else. Just listened. Start to finish. Eyes closed. Nowhere to be.
That's exactly what this is. You come in, you find a spot on the floor, and you lie down. Not metaphorically. Actually lie down. On the floor (or the couch if that’s too far). In public. With strangers. And then the lights go down and the music starts and something kind of remarkable happens when a room full of people all stop moving at the same time.
This time we're doing two.
First up, V by Wavves. Thirty-nine minutes of fuzzed-out garage rock that doesn't ask permission. Then Give Up by The Postal Service. Forty-four minutes of warm, aching electronic pop that will put you back together after.
Loud, then soft. Wired, then held. Two records that have nothing in common except that they both work best when you're not doing anything else.
Eighty-three minutes total. We'll take a short break between sides so you can stretch, refill, and get comfortable again.
We're going vinyl. Thanks to Dante Downey for the records and Keith and Karen Steele for the turntable.
We're open at 4:00. Lights down at 6:30. Free. Bring a blanket, pillow, or yoga mat. Our floor is clean so you can just show up and lie down.
