About this Event
Join us as we uncork Spain’s famous Four R’s – Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Rueda and Rías Baixas – through six delicious and very different wines. We’ll be enjoying sparkling, white, rosé and red, including a chilled red, as we journey across Northern Spain.
We’ll head to Rías Baixas in “Green Spain” to discover what salty Atlantic air can bring to Albariño, before making a detour into Valdeorras, where gold plays a fascinating part in the region’s wine story.
Then it’s on to Rueda and its famous “Terrace Tiger”, Verdejo, before heading east to Ribera del Duero to discover why there’s much more to this spectacular region than its expensive reds.
And Rioja? We’ll taste two very different styles, including a wine from an extraordinary high-altitude vineyard where the vines literally grow on a blanket of stone.

The Format
We start at 6.30pm with a tasting of six wines lasting just over an hour, presented by award-winning wine communicator and Wine Events Scotland founder Diana Thompson. We’ll delve into the landscapes, climates, grape varieties and winemaking behind the wines, discovering how they influence what’s in your glass – with plenty of food-pairing inspiration along the way.
After the tasting, relax with cheese and charcuterie nibbles and another glass of wine, with time to chat before we finish at 8.30pm.
Tickets are £47 per person and include the masterclass followed by cheese and charcuterie nibbles and the chance to chat over another glass of wine after the tasting.
Come on your own or with friends – everyone is welcome, whether you’re just starting your wine journey or already a wine lover.
