Teacher: Gabrielle Stallings & Neil Figuracion
Description: Inspired by the dancers in classic Hollywood films like Buck Privates, Twice Blessed and Groovie Movie, Neil Figuracion and Gabrielle Stallings are bringing a series to give a taste of this slick and stylish mode of Lindy Hop. Encompassing Smooth Style, Hollywood Style and Dean Collins Style, Gabrielle & Neil aim to help you explore this very distinct branch of the Lindy Hop family tree! Let's learn to swing the wing and whip the hip!
Dates: December 7 & 14
Time: 8-9pm
Prerequisites:
Some experience with swing partner dancing preferred. Familiarity with the 8 count swing out rhythm won't hurt, but the class will start at the foundations.
Teacher Bios:
A veteran of the Style Wars, Neil Figuracion (any pronouns or none) hails from East Los Angeles, CA. Neil was one of the first students of the inventors of Hollywood Style and spent a decades worth of Sundays dancing with and getting nosed by the legendary elders of Bobby McGee's. Lately Neil has been learning to brew kombucha and is currently cast as an understudy in an upcoming production of It's a Wonderful Life!
Gabrielle Stallings has been dancing and performing in Southern California since 2011, with a passion for partnered connection, musicality, and playfulness. Whether competing or performing, Gabrielle brings an emphasis on connection, musicality, creativity, and the social aspect of swing dance.
