Labor is categorically "in bed with dirty gas".We will gather outside Sarah Witty's office this coming Friday and every Friday in 2026 to express our outrage. Not in our names!!
Since 2022 Labor has approved around 36 fossil fuel project including a 45-year expansion of Australia’s largest gas export terminal, and according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), Australia has the world’s largest pipeline of coal export projects. Almost 100 new fossil fuel projects are in development including the Kimberley and Scott Reef. If they proceed, they will lock in billions of tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually for decades.
Locals from XR and other community climate groups will festoon the offices of Sarah Witty, Labor MP for Melbourne Electorate, with banners, placards and messages about Labor's climate betrayal. Passing cars will provide a chorus of honks for climate.
We know that this kind of regular action pays off, engaging with local community and keeping pressure on Labor over their disastrous climate policies.
And did we mention that it's fun!?!?!
Come join us this Friday to keep the heat on Labor and for coffee and conversation after the action. This Friday 12:30-1:30pm. (and continuing every Friday in 2026!)
