Reel It In! Join Us for the 2026 City of Overland & City of St. Ann Fishing DerbyThe City of Overland and the City of St. Ann are excited to invite the community to the 2026 Fishing Derby on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Tiemeyer Park – Gendron Lake in St. Ann.
This annual event is free and open to children ages 3–16 and adults ages 62 and older. Whether you're an experienced angler or trying fishing for the first time, the Fishing Derby is a great opportunity to spend the morning outdoors, enjoy some friendly competition, and make lasting memories with family and friends.
Registration opens September 4, 2026, and participants may register online or in person through either the City of Overland Community Center or the City of St. Ann Community Center. Be sure to register early—the first 200 participants to pre-register will receive a free goody bag on the day of the event. Additional registration information is available by scanning the QR code on the event flyer or by visiting either city's website.
The derby will feature four age divisions. Participants are limited to one fishing pole and one hook and must be able to cast and land their own fish. Some bait will be provided; however, participants are responsible for bringing their own fishing pole, hook, and stringer.
Need fishing equipment? Check out local libraries participating in the Urban Fishing Program, where fishing poles are available to check out. It's a great resource for anyone who would like to participate but doesn't have their own equipment.
This year, we're also proud to partner once again with STL Youth Sports Outreach. Attendees are encouraged to bring new or gently used sports equipment, such as cleats, gloves, bats, balls, and other athletic gear, to help support local youth and provide opportunities for children throughout our community.
Whether you're hoping to catch the biggest fish of the day or simply enjoy a relaxing morning at the lake, the City of Overland & City of St. Ann Fishing Derby is an event you won't want to miss.
