Artist Statement:
I have been taking photos since my dad got me a camera when I was 16. It took many years for me to really devote time to it, but now I primarily use it as a reason to get out into nature and spend time with my photography crew. Plus, nothing makes me more giddy than capturing a really cute animal.
Currently, I am balancing time between getting my Masters degree, working here at the Gaines Group and still finding time to take photos. It is definitely a balancing act but a fun one! Although I may not be getting out to take photos as much as I may want to, getting opportunities to share them is equally exciting and special. Enjoy the show!
Artist Bio:
Rachel is a local Harrisonburg photographer whose show will feature some of her favorite landscapes she has taken over the years. Places include Shenandoah National Park, Maine, Barcelona and more!
Originally from New Mexico, Rachel came to Harrisonburg to attend JMU and eventually decided to make the Shenandoah Valley her home. In her down time, you can find her mountain biking, taking photos (of course), or relaxing on the couch when the sun is shining in just perfectly.

Each month we host a new artist in our building’s 2nd floor gallery at the Chesapeake Western Depot at 141 W. Bruce St. (second floor entrance is on Chesapeake). Artwork will remain on exhibit through the month. Come view the show anytime and get a tour of the Depot!
