Come see "Convalescence" by Daniel Nagel and hear music by Roy Ponce at ArtsPartners' Follow Your Arts Gallery for First Friday. Light snacks and beverages will be provided. Make an evening of it and go to other West Main locations, including Studios on Sheridan at the Sunbeam Building, Lit. on Fire Books, and My Writing Shed.
Convalescence is a collection of limited-edition screen prints exploring color, texture, and the beauty of the handmade. Ranging from one to six colors, each print is built through a deliberate layering process, balancing carefully coordinated palettes with tactile surfaces and subtle imperfections. Some works incorporate rainbow rolls, a screen-printing technique that blends multiple colors in a single pass, creating fluid, unpredictable transitions.
The title Convalescence speaks to a period of healing, recovery, and gradual transformation. Both personal and open to interpretation, the exhibition reflects on the process of rebuilding, finding balance, and learning to appreciate the beauty that emerges along the way. Each print is a small study in patience and process, with its own character, variations, and imperfections.
Produced in strictly limited editions, these works celebrate the individuality of the printmaking process. No edition will be reprinted.
About the Artist:
Dan Nagel is a Peoria, Illinois–based artist and graphic designer whose work explores color, composition, texture, and the relationship between digital design and traditional printmaking. Working primarily with screen printing and acrylic, he creates limited-edition prints that embrace the hands-on nature of the process.
