Garden City’s Surel L. Mitchell Live-Work-Create District is lively with artists, art studios, and businesses year-round, but especially during free First Friday events. It's a great way to explore the local art scene, with exhibitions, readings, and performances at various locations.On October 2nd, Surel's Place is closing it's special ceramics exhibition, "Illuminated by Fire."
Plus, it's the 5th anniversary of "Illuminated," an immersive experience that takes place during our October First Friday from 7:30pm - 9:30pm. Artists from all different backgrounds produce projection and light art for the public to navigate through and explore the different ideas through their visual media.

It's the First Friday 6-hole Open Studio Scramble from 5:30pm - 7:30pm. Travel around to the 6 holes and avoid artistic barriers to getting your ball in the hole. Then bring your card back to Illuminate at Surel's Place, hold it under the black light, to see if you won a prize!

Starbelly Dancers will be performing at 6:30pm at Surel's Place and then an "Illuminated" performance at SGW's parking lot (corner of Clay & 33rd) at 8pm.
