"Building Bridges: Portraits of Immigrants and Refugees"This exhibit will introduce you to individuals and families from all over the world who have come to the United States as immigrants, refugees, and asylum-seekers. Many have been citizens for a long time; others have arrived on our shores recently and hope to become American citizens in the near future. We hope you enjoy exploring the photographs and reading the stories of all of these people who generously agreed to share their experiences, their lives, and their ideas, to help us understand that we are all a human family. The Black and White photos were taken by Mark Chester, the Color photos by Gigi Kaeser and Interviews by Peggy Gillespie as part of the Family Diversity Project. The exhibit is co-sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Dubuque, Dubuque for Refugee Children, Presentation Lantern Center and the Jac Tilton Memorial Art Education Fund.
