I am so excited to announce I am hosting Anna for a finger cymbal workshop! I saw her perform recently at Shona's Belly Spa in Torquay and I was blown away, not only by her skill but also her pure joy when performing - I was transfixed!Here's a bit of background information about Anna, followed by what the workshop will cover:
Anna is a Bristol based dancer, producer and educator.
She grew up in a family of performers and producers, immersed in the sounds and songs of Eastern Europe and the SWANA region. She has trained and travelled extensively around the SWANA region, is the UK's leading finger cymbal percussionist, been performing for over 3 decades and teaching SWANA dance since 1997. She toured England with Turkish fusion band Oojami, shared headlines with bellydance superstar Sonia Ochoa, produced and performed in shows with English/Egyptian band Beledi Blues and highly regarded US dance organisation the Salimpour School, and been invited to perform and teach across the UK, Europe, India and the US.
Anna has a reputation as an outstanding dancer percussionist, having trained in special Egyptian Toura (finger) cymbals with master Epyptian percussionist Hany Morgan. She is the only dancer in the UK to incorporate this technique with her dancing.

Take your finger cymbal skills to the next level with this fun, musical workshop open to all levels.
With finger cymbals you can bring the magic of live music with you wherever you perform.
We recommend you bring your own cymbals if you have them but there will be spares to borrow if you forget
Learn to play and dance with ease to both upbeat rhythms, like Maqsum, as well as to slow and slinky chiftitellis. You can make your cymbal skills set the mood!
The cost of the workshop is £18 and is at the same venue as our evening hafla
There are some finger cymbals available to borrow but numbers are limited
Payment is required upon booking to secure your place on the workshop.
