About this Event
Have you ever wondered how an image becomes moving? Join us for a masterclass with animation director and artist Sashko Danylenko to explore classic animation techniques, dive into iconic examples of each, participate, and ask questions.
In 2027, Ukrainian animation marks its centennial. This masterclass is part of a wider series of events celebrating the vibrancy of Ukrainian voices and spotlighting Ukraine's long-lasting filmmaking tradition: its leading narratives, challenges, technical innovations, and role in global cinematic heritage.
In the 21st century, animation doesn’t have to be either technically complicated or AI-generated. All it takes is an idea, imagination, and a little bit of skill. Within just two hours, you will find out more about stop motion, frame-by-frame, rigging, and clay animation techniques – and, most importantly, see it all in the making.
Each technique is illustrated by fragments of the prominent works of Ukrainian animators from the mid-20th century to today. Don’t miss your chance to learn how the iconic characters and stories came to life.
No previous experience needed.
