About this Event

Second Chance is a short film (18 minutes) by Fish Camp about the last major free-flowing river in eastern Idaho - the Teton. Following the film, there will be a panel discussion featuring representatives from regional conservation organizations that are working to protect and restore the Teton River.

The Teton River is one of the last remaining strongholds for Yellowstone cutthroat trout, a working agricultural river, and the lifeblood of Teton Valley and downstream communities. But in 1976, everything changed. The catastrophic collapse of the Teton Dam unleashed nearly 80 billion gallons of water, killing 11 people, flooding hundreds of thousands of acres, and causing billions of dollars in damage.

Fifty years later, the river — and the people who depend on it — continue to recover, rebuild, and reimagine the future of the watershed. Through the eyes of anglers, scientists, ranchers, and river stewards, Second Chance follows the collaboration unfolding to protect the Teton River before history has the chance to repeat itself.
