Thursday, October 29 · 6:00 pm (Doors Open at 5:30)Bernheim Hall, Ben May Main Library, Mobile Public Library
Join us for a free screening of The Power To K*ll, Debbie Levin's documentary about judicial override in Alabama. For decades, our state let a single elected judge impose a death sentence even after the jury said life.
Alabama ended judicial override in 2017. But the law wasn't made retroactive, and 24 people remain on death row under a practice the state has already rejected.
After the film, stay for a conversation with local leaders from Mobile's legal, faith and civic communities about what this means for our state and what we can do now.
Free and open to the public. Bring a friend, a neighbor, someone from your congregation.
Presented by We the Jury, Alabama Arise, and the Alabama Post-Conviction Relief Project.
