About this Event
Our gardens here at the Harley Clarke Mansion were designed by Jens Jensen, a pioneer in the use of native plants in landscape design. Jensen's life and philosophy continue to inspire everything we do here in Evanston. This film, by Evanston native Carey Lundin, is an extraordinary introduction to Jensen's life, thought, and legacy.
The film runs about an hour. We'll host a discussion for those who wish to stay. Your ticket includes a selection of snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. Parking is a bit limited on site, but we are reachable by public transportation and just a short walk from Northwestern University parking garages.

"When Chicago was considered the worst place on earth to live, Jens Jensen created naturalistic landscapes to mimic the feeling of being in nature. He battled endemic corruption and titans of industry to save the dunes of Indiana. It was to become the first National Park but it took over 100 years, but it is now the Indiana Dunes National Park."
