For Flamenco Lovers & the Flamenco Curious!
Sunday, November 15, 2026 | 4–6 PM
Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History (MAH)
705 Front Street | Downtown Santa Cruz, CA
Live flamenco with Stephanie Laishy (dance & singing) and Kiel Siler (guitar)
Dear Flamenco Lovers & Flamenco Curious,
You're invited!
Come spend an afternoon with us celebrating flamenco, friendship, music, and the joy of being together.
Whether you've loved flamenco your whole life, are just beginning to discover it, or simply happen to be curious about that lively gathering you've heard about, there's a place for you here!
We're bringing the flamenco spirit, with music and dance a compás to the MAH. You bring yourself!
There will be plenty of live music, opportunities to listen, mingle, clap along, sing a little, perhaps get up and dance, and maybe even an impromptu mini-lesson or two if the spirit moves us!
No formal program to follow, no dance experience required, and absolutely no need to know anything about flamenco beforehand.
Grab a drink or something delicious from Abbott Square, bring your refreshments inside, find a comfortable spot, and enjoy the afternoon.
Come with friends, bring your family, meet some new people, or just come hang around with us.
All ages. All levels of curiosity. Everyone welcome!
Admission — A Community-Supported Gathering
We want this afternoon to be welcoming and accessible while also making sure the artists who bring the music are supported.
Admission is offered on a suggested-contribution sliding scale, with three ways to help make the fiesta possible:
- $10 — Amigo (Friend): A friendly contribution to help bring this community flamenco gathering to life.
- $20 — Aficionado (Enthusiast): Our suggested contribution to help cover event expenses and compensate participating artists.
- $30+ — Aliado (Ally & Supporter): A little extra love to support the artists and help keep community flamenco gatherings accessible.
Every contribution is welcome! Whether it's $5, $10, $20, or simply what you can comfortably give, it all helps make this gathering possible. And if contributing isn't possible right now, that's perfectly fine, too!
RSVP Now — Pay Online or at the Door!
Planning to join us? We'd love to know you're coming!
You can reserve your place and contribute in advance through Eventbrite, or simply RSVP now and pay at the door.
Our suggested contributions are $10, $20, and $30, but you're welcome to give more, give less, or attend at no cost.Every little bit helps!
If you prefer to pay when you arrive, select the free RSVP — Pay at the Door option. You can choose the contribution that feels comfortable for you on the day of the gathering.
Children are always welcome and always free! Please include them in your RSVP so we can plan comfortably for everyone.
No one turned away for lack of funds. A no-cost Community Welcome RSVP option is available, too.
Every contribution, large or small, helps us create opportunities to share flamenco in the company of community.
Your presence matters just as much! ♥️
About Flamenco Romántico Living Arts & Archives
Flamenco Romántico Living Arts & Archives is dedicated to preserving, documenting, sharing, and carrying forward the artistic, cultural, and community legacy of Flamenco Romántico and the generations of artists, families, teachers, and students connected to it.
Rooted in the decades of dedication of Marianna and Freddie Mejía in Santa Cruz, this developing nonprofit initiative brings together archival preservation, oral histories, education, live music, dance, and community gatherings.
At the heart of its mission is a belief that flamenco is a living art, one that is carried forward not only through performances and historical records, but through relationships, shared experiences, and the people who continue to practice and love it.
This gathering is one small, joyful way of continuing that legacy and welcoming more people into it.
About Laishy Flamenco & Sala Flamenca Laishy
Stephanie Laishy is a flamenco artist, singer, dancer, educator, and cultural producer whose more than 20 years of work are deeply connected to the family and community traditions of Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.
Through Laishy Flamenco, she brings together traditional flamenco music, dance, storytelling, and spontaneous exchange, creating experiences that invite audiences to encounter the art up close.
She is also the creator and host of Sala Flamenca Laishy, a weekly radio program on Trópico FM in Boise, Idaho, dedicated to flamenco music, history, culture, and conversation.
The program explores the people, places, stories, and relationships that shape flamenco, from Andalucía to Idaho and beyond, while celebrating the art as a living cultural tradition.
Listen Fridays, 12–1 PM Mountain Time, at Tropico.fm
With Appreciation
This gathering is made possible with support from the Alexa Rose Foundation's Light of Day Award, awarded to Stephanie Laishy in support of Sala Flamenca Laishy — Live From the Archive, a project connecting flamenco's living traditions with archival music, storytelling, cultural memory, and community engagement.
We're grateful for this support and for the opportunity to bring people together around the music and histories we love.
Bring your curiosity. Stay awhile.
There's room for you here. ♥️
