About this Event
Fields8 is the brainchild of Melbourne-based circular textile practice Dempstah and Newcastle slow fashion label High Tea with Mrs Woo.
The yarn offers a circular solution to a challenge long suffered by High Tea and many made-in-Australia fashion brands: what do we do with fabric scraps and offcuts leftover from making clothes?
In collaboration with textile mills here and abroad, Guy & High Tea sisters Angela, Rowena & Juliana developed Fields8 to solve this problem: mechanically recovering the linen and cotton fibre from High Tea's offcuts, blending and spinning the fibres into new yarn, and then plying it up for use in needlecraft and commercial knitwear production.
Maker Maker's launch evening will give you a chance to see the yarn up close, explore samples on display, and hear a talk from Guy about the story of making the yarn– a behind the scenes chat about the realities of recycling Australian textile waste.
We'll have stock of the 12 unique solid and marled yarn colourways for purchase on the night– but be quick 'cause stock is limited!
