"MASONIC INITIATION AND THE SUPERNATURAL WOMAN"
During the 18th century, Freemason and playwright Gotthold Lessing said that supernatural beings, or "spirits," would listen only to the voice of a Freemason. Bro. Angel Millar asks us to think about a specific type of spirit: the supernatural woman. And he asks us to do so in relation to the Masonic initiation.
Known by various names (the nymph, fylgja, and faerie), myth and legend tell us that such a spirit is attracted to men who not only have a sense of the Divine but who cultivate their character. Moreover, it is said that only powerful men have a fylgja. But, if so, should male initiation lead simply to more and more "higher degrees," or to the appearance of the Divine Female? Bro. Millar argues that, through a profound transformation of the consciousness, Masonic initiation should lead to the latter.
Angel Millar is the author of Supernatural Woman and the Male Initiate: Bonded Through Dreams (2026), The Path of the Warrior-Mystic, and The Three Stages of Initiatic Spirituality, as well as three histories of Freemasonry. Bro. Millar was initiated into Freemasonry, in Publicity Lodge, No. 1,000, in 2001, and is a Fellow of the (Masonic) Philalethes Society for Masonic research, and the editor-in-chief of the Fraternal Review magazine (published by the California Research Lodge).
