Helping our Young K.I.N.G.s understand big emotions through drama, creativity & a filmed project that builds confidence and wellbeing.
About this Event

A unique, creative workshop where young boys of African, Caribbean and mixed heritage explore big emotions through movement, drama, and storytelling, building confidence while having fun.

Delivered by Actively SeeK.I.N.G. in partnership with The Gracefully Empowered Toolkit, supported by Newham Council, and part funded by Arts Council England.

As part of this exciting experience, the boys will also have the opportunity to take part in short filmed drama and creative moments, helping us share positive messages about emotions and wellbeing with other young people.

What your child will gain

The boys will:

  • Learn the difference between positive and difficult emotions
  • Understand how feelings show up in their body
  • Identify trusted adults they can talk to
  • Take away simple tools to manage big feelings

What to expect

Through games, movement and creative activities, children will:

  • Build a fun “Feelings Machine” together
  • Explore emotions through interactive challenges
  • Act out real-life situations through drama
  • Create their own calming and wellbeing tools to take home

Why this matters

Big emotions can feel overwhelming for children. This workshop helps them build confidence, express themselves, and develop healthy ways to cope, skills that support their wellbeing at home and school.

Who it’s for
  • Black boys aged 7–11 of African, Caribbean, or mixed heritage
  • Particularly supportive for boys who may struggle to express or manage emotions
  • Especially boys who enjoy performing arts such as drama, acting, and being part of a filmed creative project

Free spaces available

Spaces are limited, so early booking is recommended.
