About this Event
From November to April, we participate in FeederWatch, a participatory science project. You can help us identify and count the birds seen in Mount Royal Park, helping researchers track their abundance and distribution.
The training includes an indoor presentation, followed by a short outdoor demonstration.
After you’ve followed the training session, you can come back to collect data at our birdfeeders on Fridays or Saturdays, whenever it is most convenient for you.
Material and participation criteria
- All necessary equipment for the bird inventory will be provided, including a limited number of binoculars.
- No prior knowledge is required to participate in these volunteer activities. They are supervised by the conservation team and always include explanations of the objectives, techniques, and safety guidelines.
- The minimum age to participate in this activity is 10 years old.
- Wearing ice cleats is recommended in winter.
- This activity is given in English but questions are welcome in French.
Weather
To ensure everyone's safety, we monitor the weather in the days leading up to the activity. If adverse weather conditions are forecast 24 hours before the event, it will be cancelled. An email will be sent to notify you.
