Bird, sip, and explore the Near Eastside on a guided adventure benefiting Indiana Audubon and Friends of Pogue's Run.
About this Event

Join Wes Homoya — native Hoosier, avid birder, international nature guide, and ardent conservationist — for another quarterly installment of everyone's favorite local birdin' n boozin' brew bus benefit bash, as we explore nature and enjoy quality adult beverages together for good causes.

We meet and begin our adventure at 1 p.m. at, for the last time ever at this address before it closes at the end of the year. Here we'll enjoy a guided tasting, time to enjoy a glass of your preference, and a chance to buy carryout libations for the road trip; you can, of course, drink on the bus!

We'll take a short drive on the bus at this point and work our way northeast to Pogue's Run Art & Nature Park, one of downtown's best wetland sites for birding and a unique property in several respects. This guided nature hike should last about an hour or so and cover around a mile or less, all on flat to gently sloping gravel paths. Possible bird targets might include sparrows, shorebirds, and waterfowl—and maybe the local kingfisher will be around.

Wrapping up at the park, we'll take another short drive but stay on the Near Eastside and travel to Kismet Brewing. More beverages and shenanigans there, of course, and then we'll return to Ash & Elm a little around 5 p.m., where our tour comes to an end. Everyone is invited to continue hanging out, get something to eat, and of course drink more delicious cider and chat all about birds until you're ready to head home.

Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring binoculars if you have them. We'll also have a limited number available to borrow. Whether you've never been birding before or consider yourself an expert, you are most welcome to attend.

Please plan to bring your own water bottles and beverage containers to reduce waste. Tickets are $60 per person, with all profits split to benefit Indiana Audubon and Friends of Pogue's Run. It will be a great time for anyone age 21 or older.
