About this Event
Designed for CEOs, Executive Leaders, Development Managers, Asset Managers, Finance Managers, and other professionals from Community Housing Providers (CHPs) and Indigenous Community Housing Organisations (ICHOs) who are working in, or moving into, property development and community housing delivery.
The course is grounded in the practical realities of Queensland’s development landscape and is delivered by UDIA Queensland’s expert team. It brings together the key disciplines that determine whether a project gets off the ground: project feasibility, site selection, development finance, and due diligence - woven together through a real-world case study that participants work through across the day.
This is not a theoretical course. This session is designed to give participants knowledge and tools they can apply directly to their own projects and pipelines.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of Feasibility 101, participants will be able to
- Assess the development potential of a site — understanding the planning, physical, and market factors that determine what a site can support
- Assess the commercial viability of a project — using feasibility analysis to understand costs, revenue, and whether a project stacks up financially
- Navigate the funding process — understanding what lenders look for, how loan applications are assessed, and what documentation is required
- Identify and apply different finance options — including construction finance, mezzanine, equity, and community housing-specific funding mechanisms
- Conduct structured due diligence — knowing what to investigate before committing to a site or project
- Recognise and avoid common development pitfalls — understanding the mistakes that derail feasible projects and how to mitigate them
- Participants will leave with a structured feasibility framework they can apply to their own projects, an understanding of how developers and financiers assess risk, and direct exposure to real-world case study analysis.
