At the Root: Fearless’ offering on decolonizing climate and culture
Join Fearless Foundation for the Arts for an evening showcasing At the Root, a campaign built on participatory public art with women and indigenous communities standing at the frontlines of the world's environmental crises. This work honors the deep, intimate relationship these communities hold with the land, water, and ecosystems they protect.
The evening features reflections and artwork drawn from two years of Fearless's work in environmental justice movements across the Global Majority, including water and land rights struggles among indigenous desert communities in India, resource sovereignty and riverine protection led by indigenous communities in Brazil, and sustainable food systems sustained by the Chinampero farmers of Mexico, among others.
Fearless is honored to open the showcase with a performance by Madame Gandhi, an artist who uses her creative practice to drive climate action. Together, these works offer a chance to engage with climate and environmental justice through art and culture, to reflect on how these threads run through your own work, and to imagine a sustainable climate future rooted in the wisdom of those most at risk today.
