One of the world’s leading piano quartets, this ensemble is known for pushing chamber music past the old rulebook, pairing virtuosic playing with adventurous repertoire and unexpected collaborations. With major international awards and recordings spanning everything from the classical to bold cross-genre projects, they discover new sound fields in chamber music and perform compositions outside the mainstream repertoire.EXTRA: The Friends of the Asheville Chamber Music Series is sponsoring a pre-concert discussion of the evening’s program with Andrea Adamcova, pianist, lecturer and adjudicator whose musical career bridges the traditions of Europe and the United States. A graduate of the Janacek Academy of Music and Performing Arts in the Czech Republic and the University of North Texas, she currently serves on the faculty of Western Carolina University. Adamcova has a particular passion for Czech repertoire and 20th century music.
The discussion will begin at 6:15 pm in a meeting room on the first floor of the church. Signs will designate the specific location. Seats for the concert will be reserved for ticket holders attending the pre-concert lecture. Please indicate your seating preference: up front, middle or rear seating rows.
