About this Event
Fault Lines is the Edge Collective's first exhibition that arose from conversations around climate change, intersectionality, and the meaning of BIPOC queerness. Chicago has had a particularly stormy summer highlighting how underprepared we are for natural disasters while Los Angeles has been preparing for earthquakes for decades. What does it mean to live on a fault line? Does the merging and separation of tectonic plates create a unique site of tension that is (maybe paradoxically) both thriving with life and awaiting sudden disaster? Situate yourself within that rift and get comfortable. We will have art that shares the story of the building blocks that have built your identity as a Black or Brown queer artist and how the blocks have merged into mountains or sit in tension and await rupture.

Come support Black and Brown Chicago artists and find community with us
The Edge Collective cultivates immersive third spaces to celebrate Black and Brown queer art as a vital practice of both collective healing and community building. In highlighting the nuances of our lived experience, we frame queer life through abundance, richness and diversity. We view art-making and art-ingestion as forms of restorative care and we hope to build spaces that foster belonging and offer a refuge. Rooted in intentional commitment to BIPOC queer representation, we highlight Chicago artists, bring accessible art into the community and circulate resources back into our community.
Ticket includes 1 complimentary drink!
