About this Event
Ever thought about turning your skills, passions, or talents into a way of making money? If so, being self-employed as a freelancer or consultant may be just what you are looking for.
Over two-thirds of employed millennials want to leave the traditional work structure and become self-employed. However, most of those never actually go on to launch their own venture!
From years of experience, we understand that there are some key concerns that really hold students and graduates back from a freelance career:
- Concern about a lack of funds
- A lack of business experience
- The confidence to make it work (or even just the fear of failure)
- Feeling like there isn’t the time to explore it right now
What can I expect from the event?
This highly interactive workshop will introduce you to what’s involved in running your own consultancy or freelancing business. We'll cover:
- How to stand out
- How to get clients
- How to make money
We will be joined by an expert panel.
Suze Lake's career is a study in reinvention. A Canadian who emigrated to a Norfolk farm nearly 30 years ago, she started out as an artist and grew a product-based business into the top 5% of UK Etsy sellers. In 2021 she moved into freelance marketing and operations, running launches and back-end systems for founders, including one launch that hit a 67% conversion rate before spotting where it was all heading. Today she's an AI Consultant and Business Strategist, running Creative Solutions Worldwide and helping established, overloaded founders turn decades of scattered expertise into a secure "Digital Brain," so their business stops depending on them for every answer. Her philosophy is simple: AI amplifies the expert, it doesn't replace her — upgrade the tractor, keep the farmer. She's also a director of Buy Local Norfolk.
