Family Violence: Spotlight on Coercive Control

This workshop is ideal for front-line service providers who want to better understand these aspects of family violence, or would like a refresher beyond the basics.

Topics include:

• learn to recognize the types of abuse and cycle of violence
• consider emotional and psychological abuse tactics and their impacts
• discuss the dynamics of Coercive Control and it's role in maintaining family violence and sexualized violence
• develop effective responses to disclosures of family violence
• recognize barriers to leaving or accessing supports
• discuss current developments in criminalization of coercive control
• share community and provincial resources
