Step into the magical world of folklore, light, and shadow. Join us across the Confucius Institute for a creative family discovery day packed with hands-on making, traditional craft, and mythic storytelling.
🔸 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗱𝗼𝘄 𝗣𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗲𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿 (Pauline Cordiner, A Scottish Storyteller): From unicorns, dragons and krakens to kelpies, selkies and other creatures, let’s create some beasts and human characters of our own! Kids aged 8 and upwards can design and make their own moveable puppets, then have fun experimenting with them on the shadow screen. Come along, get creative and bring your puppets to life!
🔸 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗺: Get up close with authentic Chinese shadow puppets, explore traditional carving styles, and learn how puppeteers bring these historic figures to life.
🔸 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗸𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: Relax in our media corner to watch recorded short films showcasing classic Chinese folklore, mythic tales, and vibrant shadow-animation traditions.
