Step into the fascinating world of Worcester porcelain and discover how beautiful patterns and designs have been created for centuries. Inspired by the Museum’s collections and contemporary artist Lisa Sheppy’s exhibition Ornament Unbound: Tissue Transferware Reframed, this fun, hands-on workshop invites families to explore, imagine and create together.Enjoy a family-friendly tour of the museum and exhibition, get up close to objects from the collection, and uncover the stories behind historic transfer-printed ceramics. Through playful sketching and design activities, you’ll gather inspiration before creating your own unique print using lino or foam printing techniques.
As a special part of the experience, you’ll have the opportunity to meet artist Lisa Sheppy during her Artist in Residence day and watch her creating new work on her printing press. See the printing process in action, learn about her creative practice, and discover how historic ceramic decoration techniques continue to inspire contemporary art today.
Your own design will then be reproduced onto a ceramic piece, which will be professionally fired and ready to treasure as a lasting memento of your visit.
Perfect for children, parents, grandparents and creative minds of all ages. No previous experience is needed, just bring your imagination and get ready to print, make and create together!
