In recent times, Christian believers have played an outsized role in American politics. According to one study 82% of white evangelical Christians voted for Donald Trump in the 2024 elections. Media reports the rise of Christian Nationalism. But what is the role of Christians in politics anyway? Some ignore it completely. Others make it a doctrine of faith. Should pastors address politics from the pulpit? Join us for a historical, theological and non-partisan introduction to how Christians in past centuries have engaged with politics and what we can learn from them today. People of other faiths or no faith can also learn about how Christian believers are thinking about their politics. There will be time for Q&A.
Our speaker will be Dr. Kellen Funk, Professor of Law at Columbia University and elder at Stone Hill Church in Princeton, NJ.

The suggested reading for this lecture is by N.T. Wright and Michael Bird. Join us for our Book Club when you RSVP. We will meet over Zoom every two weeks on Thursday evenings, 8:00-9:30 pm ET beginning Sept. 10th. We will discuss two chapters each time beginning with Chaps. 1-2 on Sept. 10th.
