Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the presentation beginning at 6:00 p.m. and concluding at 8:00 p.m.
We warmly invite you to join us on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the Recreation and Wellness Centre on Snuneymuxw Territory (1145 Totem Rd, Nanaimo, BC V9R 1H1), for an evening of learning, reflection and relationship-building around the important work of reconciliation. A central focus of the gathering will be Jodi Spargur’s book, Mend, which explores the difficult, yet hopeful work of repairing relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples.
We are especially pleased that Jodi will be with us to share from her work and engage with those attending. The evening will begin with a welcome and prayer from a Snuneymuxw Elder, followed by a Land Acknowledgement.
Refreshments will be served, and the evening will conclude with a Q & R period with Jodi. More than simply an opportunity to learn about Mend, we hope this gathering will provide the Nanaimo community (and beyond) with an opportunity to come together, listen, learn from Indigenous perspectives, and consider how we might move beyond simply acknowledging the past toward building new and genuine relationships for the future.

Cost: $15 pp to cover Snuneymuxw Recreation and Wellness Centre rental; Jodi Spargur’s travel expenses and honorarium, and, of course, refreshments. (Jodi’s organization, Red Clover, will provide the honorarium for the Snuneymuxw Elder.)
