About the Cultural Curiosity Series
Cultural Curiosity Series is an OTFLCA learning initiative that immerses helping professionals in recovery subcultures and community traditions. Each session builds cultural humility, shared language, and practical skills so providers can partner more effectively with people navigating both peer-based recovery and professional services.
About this session
This session explores how Christian faith, community, and spiritual practices can influence the recovery experience. Through lived experience and the lens of Celebrate Recovery, participants will gain insight into how faith can shape identity, connection, hope, and sustained recovery, while learning how to respectfully support individuals who incorporate Christian beliefs into their recovery journey.
The session will be facilitated by Rosanne Moore, Care Pastor, and Justine Doyle, Pastoral Care Assistant, both of whom bring extensive experience supporting individuals through faith-based recovery. Rosanne has led Celebrate Recovery at Church on Fire for 15 years, and Justine brings both lived experience of addiction recovery and a passion for helping others find freedom and healing.
Who Should Attend
Behavioral/public health professionals, peer recovery supporters/supervisors, case managers, social workers, counselors, justice and healthcare partners, and anyone collaborating with individuals seeking substance use services.
