Fairview Cemetery is a distinguishing feature of the downtown landscape. The museum is excited to offer a walking tour of this sacred space. Join Jeff Joyce, a local historian and Air Force veteran, as he leads a walking tour of several historic sections of Fairview Cemetery. Learn about the beginnings of the cemetery, the history of segregation in the cemetery, and the stories of several men and women buried there.The tour will start in the Antioch section of the cemetery (behind the Found & Sons Funeral Chapel parking lot) at 10 AM on Saturday, November 7. Please park over by the crematorium at Found & Sons (850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701).
Participants should wear comfortable shoes, bring their own water, and dress appropriately for weather conditions. The cemetery grounds are hilly and may be wet, slippery, and/or uneven.
