Growing up in Kokhanok, off the road system, working with family, hunting and fishing to put food on the table, I learned two things: hope and hard work. That’s who Alaska is, and it’s what they’re trying to take away.
When they jack up our gas prices, take healthcare from our families, and cut us to the bone to fatten their own wallets, we can start to lose hope. We begin to feel like our hard work might not mean anything anymore. But the thing about fishermen is, we're eternal optimists.
