A deep dive into mindfulness with horses, inspired by author Miranda Keeling's "The place I'm in"
What do you see when you stop to notice?
Mindfulness...seems simple enough. It's about being present, right? You just notice the world around you. That's it.
While simple in theory, getting present in our bodies and our experiences is a lot tougher for most of us than we realize. Biases, influenced by genetics, history, and conditioning often keep us stuck in our heads, where we create false narratives and ignore our own intuitive signals.
Author Miranda Keeling offers a simple and fresh view on mindfulness in her book "The place I'm in," as she shares her own journey through the world, in easy to follow, bite-sized pieces. Being able to access this space in our big, fast, scary world takes practice. And what better place to explore our sensory world, than in a quiet barnyard, tucked up in the edge of the forest, surrounded by horses. (I bet your heart rate is already dropping after just reading that last sentence.)
In this workshop, we will meet the herd through a lens of noticing and presence. Guided by the horses, and the inspiration of Keeling's book, we will explore our own mindful observations through a variety of simple writing and mindfulness exercises, as we explore the place we're in.

*There is a writing exercise portion in this workshop. Writing supplies will be available, or you may bring your own personal journal or paper of your choice. All participants will receive an Equi Evolution journal. You do not have to be a writer to attend this event.
