The Finance and Business Analytics discipline at the Adelaide Business School cordially invites staff members and students to a workshop on blockchain and cryptocurrency. This workshop aims to provide an understanding of the theoretical frameworks and practical applications of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. The workshop will cover the following topics: public and private blockchains, hash functions, public and private keys, digital signatures, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and stablecoins.

About the speaker:
Prof. Yiuman Tse is an endowed chair and professor of finance at the University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL) since 2012. He received his BS (engineering) from the University of Hong Kong, MBA from SUNY–Binghamton, and PhD from Louisiana State University. He recently obtained his MS in Computer Science (AI/DS) from UMSL in 2023. His research interests are international investments and financial markets, FinTech, and Applied Econometrics. He has over 130 articles published in Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Econometrics, Management Science, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Markets, Journal of International Money and Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, and others. Dr. Tse appears in the world’s top 2% of most-cited scientists list by Stanford University in 2021. Dr. Tse has received teaching awards from different universities, including the 2006 President’s Distinguished Achievement Awards for Teaching Excellence at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is a CFA charterholder and certified Financial Risk Manager.
