What Can We Learn from the Power of Solidarity?
This session explores a pivotal moment in African American, Filipino American, and Mexican American history that demonstrates the power of workers coming together to challenge unfair systems.
Educators will examine how Filipino and African American workers built alliances in response to efforts to undermine the Pullman Porters’ Union, and how these connections contributed to broader movements for change.
Participants will:
🧠 Examine how Filipino and African American workers worked together to address shared challenges.
🧠 Explore how collective action can create change.
🧠 Analyze primary and secondary sources through an inquiry-based approach.
🧠 Develop strategies for incorporating student questions and reflection into classroom inquiry.
🧠Explore opportunities for experiential learning at Pullman National Historical Park.
Register today. ➡️ fieldmuseum.io/EduExperientialLearning26
Educators who complete the workshop series will receive 6 hours of Illinois Professional Development Credit (CPDUs).
