About this Event
Flow State is a multidisciplinary, participatory art installation by artist Vishal Joshi, bringing together live dance, music and painting within an immersive studio environment.
We're inviting people with lived experience of disability, neurodivergence and different access requirements to experience the project and help shape how it can be made as accessible and inclusive as possible.
About Flow State
Flow State explores how creativity can be experienced collectively, inviting audiences to engage with artistic processes through movement, sound and visual expression.
The installation draws on South Asian rhythmic and movement traditions alongside contemporary performance practice, exploring how sound, embodiment and environment can support creative confidence.
Rather than a traditional gallery experience, Flow State is designed as an open, studio-style environment where people can participate in different ways. There is no expectation of previous artistic experience or knowledge.
You might choose to observe, make marks, talk with others, or respond in other ways. The project is designed to support different ways of participating and communicating.
What will we explore?
During the access review, we'll experience the installation and discuss how it could work for people with different access requirements.
We’ll particularly explore:
- Sound, lighting and movement
- Access for people with visual, hearing and mobility impairments
- How creative activities and instructions can be adapted
- Different communication and participation preferences
- How people are welcomed and supported
- Whether the environment feels comfortable and accessible
- How the project can encourage participation and creative confidence
There will also be opportunities to share ideas about how Flow State could gather feedback from audiences in different ways.
