About this Event
As an autistic comedian and improviser, Anthony LeBlanc gained the gift of learning to be more flexible with the rules that he naturally fixates on and embrace both change and the unknown. As a teacher, he also started to realize that part of his success with improvising came from how his brain worked to make sense of the world by processing the way AI does, continuously increasing the data he can pull from while getting more complex in the algorithms he uses to access that data. Feeling these tools can be helpful for anyone, neurodiverse or neurotypical, he began incorporating one or two exercises in each of his classes over his many years of teaching. They've become an integral part of his teaching style.
This workshop is a compilation of several of those exercises into one workshop to help you learn how to start seeing improv scenes and shows differently. You can find the fusion of who you are and what you know to develop a keenness and depth of perception and decision-making, referred to as acumen. Your mind and instincts can sync up to help you do some of your best work free from the fear of failure.
Anthony LeBlanc works at Nickelodeon in talent development and as an on-set acting coach on such hit shows as The Reboot of All That. He was Interim Executive Producer of The Second City in 2020. Previously, LeBlanc served as an AD for The Second City, as well as a part-time faculty member at Columbia College Chicago. Anthony is a SC alum who wrote and performed in two original Chicago Mainstage revues. He has been a teacher and resident director for Second City, directing several resident stage and theatrical productions. Anthony is an autistic Blerd dedicated to promoting Neurodiversity and Diversity in comedy.
