**Doors open at 6:30pm. Program starts at 7pm**Bayou Sauvage has expanded to nearly 30,000 acres and is the nation’s second largest urban refuge and is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
It lies protected mostly within the levees of eastern New Orleans and has long been a favorite of birders, fishers, crabbers, hikers, bikers, and kayakers. An abundance of wildlife – more than 340 species of birds, including bald eagles, as well as Gulf sturgeon, American alligators, and the occasional west Indian manatee - call the refuge home.
Come and learn about Orleans Parish’s unique wetlands area!
Our speaker will be Pon Dixson, a wildlife biologist and Refuge Manager with Bayou Sauvage Urban National Wildlife Refuge, in eastern New Orleans.
