J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue is bringing our Exotic Pet Surrender Event to Stevens Point as part of the Wisconsin Lakes and Rivers Conference!
Protecting Wisconsin's waters isn't just about stopping invasive species already in our lakes and rivers. It's also about preventing the next introduction.
Unwanted aquarium fish, reptiles, invertebrates, plants, and other exotic pets should never be released into the wild. Our surrender events provide a safe, judgment-free alternative for people who can no longer care for their animals.
JRAAR's events have already demonstrated their value as an invasive-species prevention tool. In 2025, surrender events intercepted invasive species while providing safe care pathways for hundreds of unwanted animals.

🐹 Small mammals
🌿 Aquatic and terrestrial plants
No questions asked.
Attendees can also meet animal ambassadors and learn about exotic pets, responsible pet ownership, and how choosing to surrender instead of release can help protect Wisconsin's natural resources.
Important Information
Same-Day Adoptions: Surrendered animals must first complete a quarantine and observation period. Same-day placements will not be offered.
Domestic & Farm Animals: We do not accept domestic animals such as dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, or farm animals at these events. Please contact your local humane society for help finding surrender or rehoming options for these animals.
Native Wildlife: We cannot accept Wisconsin native wildlife taken from the wild. Please contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator for assistance.
Out-of-State Animals: Birds, reptiles, and mammals originating outside Wisconsin must have the required Certificate of Veterinary Inspection.
