A photograph can be both a record and an invention.
In Our Image brings together Saskia Haalebos, Kiah Pullens, Minh-An Pham and David Newson-Tran, four artists exploring the relationships between photography, memory and family. Moving between archival images, experimental photographic processes and sculptural installation, their works question what a photograph can hold, reveal or bring into existence.
Images are recovered, reworked and imagined. Some return to the past, exploring the distance between what a photograph preserves and what we come to know. Others give form to people and possibilities that never existed, or transform the photograph into something tactile and spatial.
Across these different approaches, In Our Image considers photography as something more than a fixed record. It becomes a means of revisiting the familiar, negotiating absence and reconsidering how we understand ourselves and those closest to us.
