Our Mediterranean Mahjourney continues, and the evil eye is calling us east once again.
For our next passport stop, Whit & Whimsy Mahj invites you to Moonlight in the Levant, a jewel-toned evening of Mahj, mezze and mischief at Alara Modern Mediterranean.
Imagine the last shades of sunset melting from gold to rose to violet. Turkish lamps beginning to glow. A table slowly filling with little loves from the kitchen. A brilliant purple Butterflies of Istanbul catching the light beside your rack. Bams, Craks and Dots making their way around the table while something delicious arrives from the fire.
And somewhere in the middle of it all, Dallas begins to feel very far away.
At Alara, Chef Akan has created a modern Mediterranean table inspired by the Turkish tradition of the sofra, where friends and family gather not simply to eat, but to linger, share and take care of one another. It feels rather perfect for Mahj.
So linger we shall.
Begin with Fresh Mezze and a few Little Loves for the table. Follow the scent of the Old World Flameto Levantine Skewers or Adana Kebab Roulade. Order a Butterflies of Istanbul, or perhaps let a Turkish Coffee Martini tell your fortune. Then settle back into your seat because the Charleston is beginning and someone, inevitably, is waiting on a joker.
Alara’s menu is designed around Mediterranean flavors, sharing and dishes meant to unfold across the table throughout the evening.
