Heather Coles: you may know this featured poet by her bubblegum pink hair, usually reciting from memory at Seattle-area open mics. That includes Everett Poetry Night and the Fishbowl Open Mic (which she co-hosts with her comrade Eddie as the PowerPuff Poets).
See for yourself: she writes for the stage, not the page, moving fluidly between tenderness and fury, satire and confession, using AI along the way as an infinite slant rhyming dictionary and a co-conspirator. Her goal is always to patiently feed her words to the crowd.
She can turn a paint swatch into a manifesto, a cracked phone screen into a meditation on self-neglect, and a homemade cookie into a reckoning with reproductive rights.
SHE CAN LEAP SKYSCRAPERS IN A SINGLE BOUND and has SAVED 40 ENDANGERED SPECIES! She's also solely responsible for that plastic island in the ocean, and Brexit. Her boundless humility makes her equally hard to thank and impossible to prosecute.
