A hands-on, practical workshop designed for event organisers who already know the basics and are ready to run their next event with more confidence, less second-guessing, and better results.Hosted in partnership with Warrnambool City Council and led by The Social Connection, this session will walk you through the key stages of promoting and managing a local event, from your initial concept through to the data you can capture once tickets are selling.
Here's what we'll cover:
General Marketing
• Turning a rough idea into a clear, sellable event concept
• Building a simple local marketing plan around your timeline and budget
• Getting the most out of local channels, partnerships and word-of-mouth
Social Media
• Choosing the right platforms and content types to promote your event
• Building a content timeline in the lead-up to your event (teaser, announcement, countdown, day-of, post-event)
• Making the most of organic reach alongside paid promotion
Online Ticketing (even if your event is free)
• The importance of online ticketing versus manual sales
• Event info not to miss
• What data you can capture through ticketing, and how to use it
• Practical tips for a smoother check-in and post-event follow-up
This session is pitched at an intermediate level. We'll assume you've run or helped run an event before and have some familiarity with social media and event promotion. While beginners are welcome, the social media component will be aimed at an intermediate audience. It's not designed for complete introduction, nor is it a deep-dive advanced strategy session. Instead, it's the next step up for organisers ready to sharpen what they're already doing.
Tickets $20 per organisation and include entry for up to three people.
