The Academy will take place from 5:00pm on Friday, 22nd January and finishing at 2:00pm on Sunday, 24th January 2027.
Why learn debating with JCI Scotland?
JCI Scotland has a long history of competing in debates over the years. In fact, the debating award at World Congress is named after a former JCI Scotland member and 1963 World President, Eric Stevenson, who introduced debating to the congress programme! Not only does this Academy focus on debating and all areas associated with it, it also allows you to learn how to speak confidently which can be used in many areas of your personal and professional lives.
JCI Scotland has competed many times on the international stage and has brought several trophies home, including the first online debate at the 2020 JCI European Conference. JCI Scotland is also creating a legacy as trainers of debating and our academy graduates have gone on to win several Local, National, European and World competitions! Take JCI Ireland's 2022 debate team as an example, they all attended our 2022 Academy and went on to compete and win the 2022 JCI World Congress English debate competition. We also had delegates from JCI France who attended a previous academy compete at both European and World level.

Ticket Information
Early Bird - available until 16th November 2026
Standard - available until 7th January 2027
All training material and EDA activities are included with all tickets types along with the below inclusions:
- Friday Evening - Soup and sandwiches with tea/coffee
- Saturday Day - Breakfast pastries with tea/coffee, lunch with tea/coffee and afternoon tea/coffee & snacks.
- Sunday Morning - Breakfast pastries with tea/coffee
In addition to the EDA registration delegates are able to purchase a ticket to the Infamous JCI Edinburgh Burns Night Gala Dinner taking place the evening of Saturday 23rd January. Tickets for this include:
- Arrival Reception with welcome drink
- 3-course Scottish inspired dinner
- Dram of Whisky to toast
- Half bottle of wine per person
- Poems & speeches
- Ceilidh
*All tickets exclude accommodation and transportation costs.
Cancellation Policy
Tickets purchased for the Academy are refundable up until 21st December 2026, subject to a 10% administration fee and any eventbrite fees already paid. Any cancellations should be put in writing to [email protected]
Tickets can be transferred to another delegate if you can no longer attend. To be valid, this must be confirmed in writing to [email protected] at least 14 days before the beginning of the Academy.
If, for any reason, we need to reschedule the event, then your ticket will automatically roll forward to the new date. If you cannot attend this new date, we will offer the opportunity to transfer your ticket to another delegate.
We recommend that all delegates ensure they have valid travel insurance before making any plans to attend the Academy. If travelling from overseas, please also be mindful of any travel restrictions from your home country to Scotland and be aware that these may change.
